Reading List for Entering Law Students

We highly recommend that you read at least three or four books from the Harvard reading list for first year law students. Reading several outstanding books about the study and practice of law will help you approach your first year of law school with a heightened sense of purpose and excitement.

Three books are especially recommended: Scott Turow, One L;
Karl Llewellyn, The Bramble Bush; and Anthony Lewis, Gideon's Trumpet.
